About Green City Studio

Our Story

The Green City Studio and Green City Blog are projects of the Department of Landscape Architecture at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona), dedicated to contributing original work that advances community resiliency and opportunity. Reports include culminating Master’s Projects and other collaborative projects typically completed by teams of students under advisement of faculty who serve as Principal Investigators. Articles and Updates may be written by Principal Investigators, or student contributors subject to peer review and editorial approval by Principal Investigators. The intention is to advance community resiliency and opportunity through review, analysis and commentary on recent research or trending issues.

Kyle D. Brown, PhD

Founder, Principal Investigator

Dr. Brown is a Professor of Landscape Architecture and Instructor of the Green City Studio. Areas of expertise include climate change action and community regeneration.

Weimin Li, PhD, ASLA

Past Co-Principal Investigator

Weimin is Graduate Coordinator of the Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) Program, Professor of Landscape Architecture and former Co-Instructor of the Green City Studio. She specializes in systemic landscape planning and advanced geospatial technologies

Claire Latané, MLA, FASLA

Past Co-Principal Investigator

Claire is Department Chair, Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture and former Co-Instructor of the Green City Studio. She writes about, teaches, and advocates for design that supports public health, equity, and climate resilience.

Tori Kjer, PLA

Past Co-Principal Investigator

Tori is a former Lecturer in Landscape Architecture, and former Co-Instructor of the Green City Studio. She serves as Executive Director of the Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust.
